Expansion of Cremation Facility in Maribor

Expansion of Cremation Facility in Maribor
Due to rising demand and increasing cremation trends, Pogrebno podjetje Maribor invested in the construction of a fifth cremation furnace.

After the successful completion of a public tender, CMC GROUP was entrusted with the supply and installation of the furnace and its associated equipment.

The Maribor Crematorium has been in operation since 1998 and serves the broader northeastern region of Slovenia. It performs approximately 5,000 cremations annually. The facility originally operated with two cremation furnaces, and this month, the fifth unit is scheduled to be commissioned. In recent years, cremation has become the preferred choice in Slovenia, reflecting a shift in attitudes toward traditional burial practices. Research shows that more than 80% of deceased persons in Slovenia are now cremated.

The new furnace, manufactured by TABO-CS in the Czech Republic, was delivered and installed along with a loading trolley. The TABO KNP05 is a single-level cremation furnace with a top-mounted flue gas outlet. It is computer-controlled and equipped with advanced software, including a modem for internet connectivity. We installed an 11-meter-high flue clad in aluminum, as well as fans for air injection into both the furnace and the chimney. The furnace is fitted with two gas burners with a combined output of 650 kW and is capable of continuous 24/7 operation.

This new cremation furnace ensures efficient service delivery in line with sustainable practices and reduced environmental impact.
