The water source for the central water supply system is groundwater extracted at the five water plants. Local water supply systems are fed from their own water sources, groundwater or surface water. The central water supply system and the seven local water supply systems form a branched network that, in addition to the five water plants with 44 wells, also comprises eleven smaller local pumping stations and 1,100 kilometers of the water supply network. More than 330,000 customers are supplied from this network through 43,000 connections by JP VOKA SNAGA.
The safety of the drinking water supply is of paramount importance, as drinking water has an important impact on human health. The water we drink and use for other tasks must be free of microorganisms, parasites or their developmental forms, and substances that are hazardous to health. The adequacy of drinking water is ensured by regular monitoring of drinking water and maintenance work on the water supply network.
