As part of this project, the implementation of which began in December 2014 and will last until December 2023, a sewerage system was constructed and renovated. In the phases that followed, four wastewater treatment plants were built, in the construction of which CMC GROUP also participated as a subcontractor of the SUEZ International France Consortium.
The total value of the project amounted to EUR 67,187,400, of which the EU Structural Fund grant accounted for 74%, representing EUR 49,723,623. The remaining 26% was provided in equal shares by the local government units, the Croatian Waters (Hrvatske Vode) public utility and the State Budget. The overall project implementation comprised the construction of four wastewater treatment plants and 80 kilometers of sewerage network in the city of Poreč and its gravitational municipalities of Tar-Vabriga, Funtana and Vrsar.
As a subcontractor, CMC GROUP was in charge of installation of the technological equipment and production of mechanical installations of all four wastewater treatment plants using the membrane bioreactor (MBR) technology. A solar sludge drying plant was also installed at the site of the Poreč-North wastewater treatment plant.
The sizes of the above-mentioned wastewater treatment plants are as follows:
- Lanterna with a capacity of 30,000 PE;
- Poreč-North with a capacity of 37,000 PE;
- Poreč-South with a capacity of 48,000 PE;
- Vrsar with a capacity of 22,500 PE.
* 1 PE represents water pollution caused daily by one person
The equipment installation on all four wastewater treatment plants started in October 2019 and the works will be fully completed this year.
