The Dobrava Cemetery in Maribor has acquired a new and modern crematorium.

As part of its funeral and cemetery maintenance services, Pogrebno podjetje Maribor (Maribor Funeral Company) also performs cremations, covering the needs for these services in northeastern Slovenia. Since the opening of the crematorium in 1998, 84,000 cremations have been performed, of which 4,700 were done just last year. Forecasts indicate that the rate of cremations will further increase in the future, as 80% of all deceased persons in Slovenia are now cremated.

Increasing trends and a need for additional capacities have necessitated the installation of a new furnace. Having successfully completed a public competition for tenders, the supply and installation project was commissioned by CMC GROUP.

The cremation furnace manufactured by TABO-CS of Olomouc, the Czech Republic, was supplied and assembled together with the conveying device/trolley. This hydraulic lift trolley enables the insertion of coffins each containing a deceased person's body into the primary chamber of the cremation furnace. A chimney was also installed, made of a stainless material and having a diameter of 450 mm and a height of 7 m, along with fans for blowing air into the furnace and the chimney. The TABO KNP05 type furnace has two gas burners, with a total power of 650 kW and a cremation capacity of 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

The new cremation furnace also ensures a lower burden on the environment, as it is technologically advanced and therefore allows higher energy savings.
